DAY 1
Question - Google Classroom - First day after winter break, used a multiple choice question asking how their break was. Complete sentence answer choices using conversational expressions. Same question both levels
Vocabulary Introduction - Students worked with Quizlet set individually - I suggested this order: Flashcards, Learn, Match. I presented pronunciation as whole class.

DAY 2

Writing Formative Assessment - Hiver au Quebec - Using their vocabulary lists (TPT worksheet, Quizlet), EdPuzzle and their writing practice, students will complete the following:
French 2 - Novice High will write 8-10 sentences explaining the winter experience in Quebec - including weather, landscape, activities and food/drink.
French 3 - Intermediate Low will write 2 paragraphs persuading someone to go to Quebec in the winter, mentioning same items as above. Ideally, incorporating imperatives and modals (pouvoir, devoir, vouloir) as learned structures

REFLECTIONS: Moving through Days 1 and 2, I could get a very clear picture of students who are moving from one level to another. The circumlocution-type activity especially showed who was ready to level up. Also, it was impressive to see some of my French 2s try the French 3 work and write complex sentences. Both levels have a broad range of proficiency levels, so creating more activities that bridge both levels will be in my future!
